Aloe littoralis Baker (1878)

DESCRIPTION: simple and solitary vith erect stem up to 4 m high with persistent dry leaves. Leaves ca. 30-40, lanceolate, 60x10-15 cm, grey green, seedlings and young plants spotted. Pungent teeth 3-4 mm long and 10-20 mm apart. Inflorescence up to 2 m wit 10 branches. Cylindrical racemes 30x6 cm. Very variable taxon. Close related to smaller Aloe esculenta .
Synonymy: Aloe rubrolutea Schinz 1896, Aloe schinzii Baker 1898, Aloe angolensis.
DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, RSA, Zambia, Zimbabwe
CULTIVATION: Very attractive and easy cultivated in sandy, porous and mineral soil.
